Sloan and You Am I at Brighton Music Hall

Sloan are one of my absolute favorite bands and when they came back to Boston I had to photograph them, especially with Brighton Music Hall’s great lighting. I got there in time to catch You Am I who put on a tremendous show. Here’s some pics!

Wizard Planet music photo shoot

Nick is putting out a solo album called Wizard Planet, and he had a concept in mind for the cover, about first contact between a spaceman and a planet of primitive wizard people. All he needed was a photographer. I love my job.

Two and a half hours setting up and shooting. Eight models, two friends to assist and one musican. Over thirty mosquito bites on my back and a bit of poison ivy to boot. One shot. It was worth it.

It took about 2 months to plan, scout, and shoot, while communicating with 11 people, and yet it couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Thanks to everyone involved for making this happen!

David Wax Museum cd release show at Oberon

Local Boston band David Wax Museum celebrated their cd release show at Oberon, and wow, they absolutely blew me away. I’ve seen them before and they put on great shows, but this time around they took full advantage of the theatre space to create an intense, jubilant and immersive show. Check it out!

Twain opened up the show. Lovely songs.

Full brass section, multiple stages… they even had an acrobat!

Eli “Paperboy” Reed performance at Q Division

To celebrate his major label debut, ex-local rocker and now national recording artist Eli “Paperboy” Reed had a private show at awesome recording studio Q Division. Thanks to Redbones for helping me stuff my face, and thanks to Narragansett beer to wash it all down.

Here are some pictures from bands that have rocked my face off in the last few weeks!

Evan Dando of the Lemonheads played a few songs at Newbury Comics.

Wilco! Towards the end of their set it started pouring and I had no umbrella. I got soaked, but thanks to my bag my camera did not.

This kid was on his dad’s shoulders all night, clapping along and having a great time!

Eli “Paperboy” Reed. It’s always great to see local artists get big- he just recently signed with Virgin.
